Bespoke jewelry piece from New York. Turquoise Cross-Bones ring with polished sterling silver setting and oxidized sterling silver band. The setting has a freeform oval shape with a handset Morenci turquoise stone with spider-web configurations of iron pyrite. On either side of the setting, there are polished sterling silver triangles that point to the hand-engraved cross-bones on the band.
Partial side view of the men’s turquoise ring shows the large stone setting tapering into a thin metal band. Polished sterling silver bezel setting sits like a cap on the ring with a continuous pattern of small circular engravings around the perimeter. There is an engraving of a cross within a shield on the bezel on either side of the stone that drops into the band. The sterling silver band has a custom engraving of cross-bones that sit just below the cross and shield.
Partial back view of the Turquoise Cross-Bones Ring. An ornate relief of decorative interlocking swirls against a dark background extends from the base of the ring to the lower shank. The filigree pattern has a thick border and tapers into a point that leads to a hand engraved arrow that extends up the side of the ring.
Closeup on man’s hand wearing the Turquoise Cross-Bones Ring on his middle finger. The ring’s band fits low around the base of the knuckle. The ring’s stone extends from the base of the knuckle to halfway below the first joint, with the cross-bones on the side of the band visible.

Morenci turquoise is a stunning rock from the southeast of Arizona. Each stone has a unique design created by an iron pyrite matrix with spider webbing. The stones are a turquoise color, though some are more blue or green. The mine where Morenci turquoise was mined from is now closed, which makes any of these stones rare and all the more precious.

How We Work

Custom Pieces

1. What is the process for creating a custom piece?
It begins with a personal consultation where we discuss your ideas, style, and budget. If you choose to proceed, we then craft sketches and 3D visualisations for your approval. Sumer, our Founder and Award-Winning Designer will bring your vision to life, typically within 4–8 weeks for custom designs. We keep you involved throughout to ensure your final piece exceeds expectations.

2. Can I see a mock-up or 3D visualisation before fabrication?
Absolutely. We create detailed sketches and 3D renderings so you can visualise your jewellery before it’s made.

3. How much will my custom piece cost?
Pricing depends on materials, design complexity, and size. We provide a clear and transparent quote after your initial consultation, ensuring everything aligns with your budget. One of the benefits of working with Harlin Jones is having direct access to Sumer, the Founder and who designs and manufactures here in Sydney. We hand-pick our stones from our global list of suppliers, ensuring we get the best stones and prices for our customers.

4. Can I incorporate my own gemstones or metals?
Yes! We love working with personal gemstones or metals to create truly meaningful, custom pieces. We assess their suitability during the design process.

5. How long does a bespoke piece take?
Typically, between 4 and 8 weeks, depending on complexity and materials involved.

Collection / Ready to Wear

6. Do you have ready-to-wear or collection pieces?
Our limited-edition fine jewellery collection pieces are stocked in small quantities. If not in stock, we make to order, which typically takes 2-3 weeks. For express delivery inquiries, please contact our office.

Materials & Design

7. What precious metals do you use?
We work with 18k & 14ct yellow, rose, and white gold, platinum, and sterling silver, sourcing the highest quality metals. We’re happy to advise on the best choice for your style and lifestyle.

8. Are your gemstones ethically sourced?
Absolutely. We prioritise conflict-free diamonds and gemstones, sourced responsibly. Where possible, we use recycled metals to promote sustainability.

9. Do you have ready-to-wear or limited-edition pieces?
All our jewellery is created in limited editions, with many one-of-a-kind pieces. Customisation is always available to make your piece as unique as you are.

10. How do I choose the right gemstone for my jewellery?
Selection involves considering colour, clarity, cut, carat, and durability. We guide you through these factors, helping you find a stone that resonates personally and suits your budget.

11. What are the 4Cs of diamonds, and why are they important?
The 4Cs, Cut, Clarity, Carat, and Colour, are the standard for evaluating diamond quality:

  • Cut: How well the diamond reflects light, impacting brilliance.
  • Clarity: The presence of internal inclusions or blemishes; fewer imperfections are preferable.
  • Carat: The weight or size of the diamond.
  • Colour: From colourless to light yellow/brown; less colour equals higher value.
We help you understand these to select a stunning, well-balanced diamond.

Jewellery Care & Maintenance

12. How should I care for my jewellery?
Clean with a soft cloth and warm, mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives. For delicate or gemstone pieces, professional cleaning is recommended. We include care instructions with every purchase or come into our studio for an annual clean and maintenance on us for custom pieces.

Certificates & Authenticity

13. Do you provide certificates or appraisals?
Yes. All diamonds 0.5ct upwards will come with certification, and upon request, we can provide certificates for coloured gemstones. We also offer independent appraisals for insurance purposes.

14. How do I know I’m buying a genuine gemstone or diamond?
We source from reputable suppliers and ensure certification. For added confidence, you can have your jewellery appraised independently.

Ethical Sourcing & Sustainability

15. What are your sourcing practices?
We’re dedicated to responsible sourcing, using conflict-free diamonds and gemstones with transparent provenance. We prioritise recycled metals to lessen environmental impact.

16. Do you offer lab-grown or natural gemstones?
Yes, both options are available. Lab-created stones are chemically identical to natural ones but usually more affordable and sustainable. We’ll help you choose based on your preferences.

Pricing & Turnaround

17. How much does a custom piece typically cost?

  • Custom pieces: Prices vary depending on materials, size, and complexity of your request. After our consultation, we’ll provide a detailed, transparent quote tailored to your specifications.
  • Collection-ready pieces:  Our collection pieces are Fine Jewellery, meaning they are high quality solid metals (not plated so wont tarnish) and we use natural stones, from the earth, not the lab and our prices are reflective of the cost of these high-quality materials.

18. How long will my order take?

  • Custom pieces: Typically, 4–8 weeks from design approval to finish.
  • Collection-ready pieces:  Our limited-edition fine jewellery collection pieces are stocked in small quantities. If not in stock, we make to order, which typically takes 2-3 weeks. For express delivery inquiries, please contact our office.

Delivery & Shipping

19. What is your Shipping Policy, and do you ship internationally?
Yes, we offer free shipping globally for all items. We deliver worldwide, bringing our handcrafted jewellery to clients across the globe. Once the item is shipped, we will share the tracking detail with you and keep you updated along the journey.

Returns & Guarantees

20. What is your return or exchange policy?

We don’t offer returns or exchanges on Custom Pieces because of the custom and handcrafted nature of the work, all sales are final, and we do not offer returns or exchanges. This is the same for our Collection Pieces. Please choose carefully and if you have any further questions relating to the piece, please contact sumer@harlinjones.com.

Of course, if there is an issue with the product, we will fix or replace any faulty products.

21.  Do you offer certificates or appraisals?
Yes, certificates of authenticity are provided for diamonds and gemstones, along with appraisals for insurance if needed.

13. What warranty do you offer?
We offer a warranty against manufacturing defects. It does not cover general wear and tear. If you have any concerns, contact our office and we will help resolve issues - non-faulty concerns are the customer's responsibility.

Additional Questions

20. Can I visit your studio for a consultation?
Absolutely. We welcome appointments at our Sydney Studio where we can discuss your ideas, explore options, and begin the personal journey of creating your perfect piece or view our collection pieces in person. We also offer Video Conference Appointments worldwide; we can work with your preference.
